Iam 42yrs old I had breast cancer and I done masctomy 2 yrs back on my left breast I had chemo and radiation also now I have pain on my right side under breast means in ribs I am getting sharp pain inflammation while snzeeing and coughing if I rest on my back on sitting position I feel relaxed and if I sleep upside down(resting on chest) I feel painless

Hello, Post surgical pain and inflammation occur in mastectomy and the pain increases in case lymph nodes are also involved. Ayurvedic medicines can be taken for symptomatic relief and to strengthen the immune system of the body to avoid metastasis. 1.Divya kaishor guggul - 2 tablets twice a day with luke warm water after meals. 2.Divya kanchnaar guggul - 2 tablets twice a day after meals with luke warm water. 3.keharuba pisthi- 125mg thrice a day with honey followed by luke warm water after meals. 4.arbudhahar ras- 1 tablet thrice a day after meals with luke warm water. In panchkarma the procedures like vaman and virechan are administered regularly along with alternative asthapan and anuvasan basti with dashmooladi kwath and dhanwantri tail to detoxify the body. Pinda sweda help in relieving local pain and tenderness.

It is advised to have regular checkups after mastectomy. General checkup includes every 3-6months for the following year, 6months in the second year and then annually based on the reports. Please send me the reports to guide you further. It is common to have pain after mastectomy due to the effects in the surrounding areas including the nerves. Warm gentle massage with Murivennai will be soothing to the pain.

Ayurvedic medicines like Triphala Churnam, Yograj Guggulu and Aswagandh lehyam - 1tsp before food twice daily can be given for a month and then reviewed.

Include more vegetables, fruits including capsicum, oranges, carrot, spinach, pomegranates, beans, complex carbohydrates and fiber. Reduce excess oil, soya, fatty diary products, spicy foods, canned foods, cold refrigerated foods and salt. Please do regular checkups as advised. Gentle exercises, pranayamam, yogasanas, medictation and healthy lifestyle changes will be beneficial.
