Expert's Advice:- DIET FOR CARDIAC COMPLAINTS Diet may include low in saturated and trans-fats and high in fats found in fish and olive oil, hence omega 3 fatty acid supplements are recommended. Follow fiber-rich food, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. This type of diet will help to maintain lipid levels and lowers LDL cholesterol level and provides nutrients that help to protect heart. Maintain low salt and sugars in diet that manages blood pressure, weight, and to control diabetes and its potential risks. FRUITS Pomegranate, Bananas, Cherries, Grapes, Guava, Lemon, Oranges, Papaya, Peaches, and Apples. (Diabetes patients can consume apples and Guava). As these are fiber-rich, and contains vitamins, and minerals and low in fat, calories, sodium, and cholesterol. VEGETABLES Asparagus, Pinto, Avocado, Cabbage, Green beans, Carrots, Eggplant (brinjal), Tomatoes, etc. Starchy vegetables include Corn, Peas, Potatoes, Corn, beans (Aduki beans) etc., as these vegetables are rich in Vitamin B, Iron, fiber, and low in fat and cholesterol. with regards, Dr.Vijay. posted by ayurvijay on 3 November 2010 0:54
