Expert's Advice:- Hello sir, Please, do mention whether you have diabetes or not. Pars Planitis is an eye disease which is a treatable inflammatory disorder where middle layer of the eye is affected. Pars Planitis may occur in both eyes and usually occur in children or even in adults. Also it is believed that it may cause complications like systemic illness. However, it is treatable with allopathy medicines like immunosuppression medications, or even surgeries as indicated. In most of the cases it is idiopathic etiology, some times due to multiple sclerosis, sarcoidosis, lyme disease, etc. There are many complications by using immunosuppressants like glaucoma, macular edema etc. Being dependent on allopathy medicines, and in order to avoid complications, and to maintain sensory function, one can take a help of alternative therapies, or complimentary medicines. External drops does not help as the medicine can not reach to pars plana which is present in middle chamber, hence to control the progress of inflammation there are certain internal herbal medicines which can be consumed. However, one should be careful and need regular followups with an eye specialist. There are certain long term medicines such as INDUKANTHAM KASHAYAM, GANDHARVAHASTHADI KASHAYAM, and MARMA KASHAYAM which are found effective medicines which help to control inflammation of soft tissues. In Ayurveda Triphala Gritham is mentions as good eye tonic. Hence one can consume Triphala gritham internally. More over, if surgery is indicated, and after surgery, to improve the functioning of eye, one can under go regular pranayama, Trataka Kriya, or Yogasanas under supervision. Tarpana treatment (eye nourishment) is also indicated from Panchakarma point. For further doubts, please feel free to ask. With regards, Dr.Vijay. posted by ayurvijay on 8 March 2010 6:10
What I do know about Pars Planitis is that it is due to chronic inflammation. I happen to know of folks that are using a pure plant extract that is reducing the inflammation causing the problem and reversing it. I will be happy to give you more information if you would like!
