Hello madam,

Yoga and meditation can be done according to your convenience even during menstruation. Depending up on the intensity and frequency of flow, it can be modified. If there is heavy menstrual flow which hampers day-to-day life, then avoid doing any Yogasanas, instead you can do anuloma-viloma pranayama.

•Asanas like Shavasana, Yoga nidra, Trikonasana and Tadasana can be practiced according to your comfort. Padmasana, Vajrasana, Janushirasana, Paschimottanasana, Baddha Konasana can be done for menstrual cramps.

Do not practice inverted asanas so as not to obstruct the normal flow. Asanas that put pressure on your abdomen. Suryanamaskar.

Avoid kumbhakas, bandhas, kapalabhati, bhasrika and agnisaar pranayama. You can do anulom-vilom and ujjayi pranayama.

Yoga and pranayama mentioned above depends up on each and every individual depends on pattern of menstrual cycles, hence one should take an advice of expert personally and can perform these practices.

With regards, Dr.Vijay.
