hi iam shajitha..44years old..last day i had taken by blood test..the result is as follows: testcode result exp.values TSH 7.42uIU/ML [0.270-5.00] FT4 1.33NG/DL [0.830-1.71] pls make this results clear..are my levels high..shuld i tak any medicine... actualyy nw my sugar levels are also at the boder..is it bcoz of this.. expecting a reply sooon.. thanking u shajitha

Hello, A high TSH level indicates that the thyroid gland is failing to function and causing hypothyroidism. If the TSH level is low, usually indicates that the person has an hyperactive thyroid causing hyperthyroidism. The free T4 fraction is the most important to determine how the thyroid is functioning. To types of tests are FT4 and FT4I. The person who is having hyperthyroidism will have an elevated FT4 or FTI, whereas patients with hypothyroidism will have a low level of FT4 or FTI. If both TSH test with the FT4 or FTI accurately determines how the thyroid gland is functioning. The finding of an elevated TSH and low FT4 indicates primary hypothyroidism due to disease in the thyroid gland for which you need proper treatment. As you have border levels of sugar, you need to be careful and can take regular medications.
