Your aunt's condition may be related with Esophageal cancer or Barrett's esophagus, where it is of squamous cell type and Adenocarcinoma. Though there are many male and female causes such as Excess alcohol consumption, complication of gastroesophageal reflux disorder, obesity, poor nutrition, smoking or tobacco chewing, there are other causes in females too.
