Plant pacifies vitiated vata, kapha, arthritis, sciatica, facial paralysis, hemiplegia, skin diseases, cough, asthma, epilepsy, fever, ulcer, diabetes and hypercholesteremia, stimulates digestion, good for bones, also acts as cardiac tonic.

It is advised that one should not purchase or use raw Guggul or from roadside hawker’s end, as guggulu should be taken in purified form, as impure form contains toxic nature as there is a insoluble material in guggul which is not having medicinal value and harmful. The useful part is resinous and having hypolipidemic property.
