Doctor's Ayurvedic Advice:-

Learn Padmasana


Padma means a lotus. Louts like posture. This is classical posture which is being practiced since ancient times and very important Yoga posture. With this asana one can practice pranayama which is very helpful for enhancing metabolism. You have to follow these steps:

  • Sit on the floor with legs straight.
  • Bend the right leg at the knee level and hold the right foot with the hands and place it at the root of the left thigh so the right heel is near the naval region.
  • Similarly with the left leg as mentioned in the picture above.
  • Initially, it may be difficult and you may get mild pain and gradually you can practice.
  • During the posture, try remaining erect and the arms may be stretched out and you can change the leg positions according to your convenience to maintain balance.

Benefits of Padmasana

  • This posture is helpful for reliving stiffness in the knees and ankles.
  • Helps to improve blood circulation in lower body.
  • It is very good asana for females those who suffer from dysmenorrhea
  • It relieves in constipation and abdominal bloating.


Those how are suffering from arthritis of knees may avoid doing this asana.

Note: This asana is very important for meditation and for many other asanas also.

I do not know if my problem is a bowel syndrome, i have much flatulence, stool is sometimes hard, sometimes soft.
