Water retention during menopause 
I am 50 years old. My menses are quite irregular for the last one year. From 2006 August, I gradually started putting on weight and have gained upto 15 kgs in a couple of months inspite of leading the same life style, I do yoga regularly, go to the gym and eat healthy. I tried all sorts of diet programmes, ayurvedic treatment, homoepathy, naturopathy, but nothing worked for me. I have a lot of fluid retention in my body. I get deep depressions in my legs when pressed. For the last two months, I have been doing more pranayamam (following Baba Ramdevji's yoga practice) and I practice yoga daily for two hours. This has shown some improvement in my health. What do I do to cure the fluid retention in my body.

Expert's Advice:- Hello madam, Since you are 50, there may be changes in hormones and there will be chances of attaining menopause. So there would be premenopausal syndrome, where you are getting irregular periods. Because of irregular periods, your weight is getting increased, even fluid retention also cause for weight gain. So, you need to be concentrate on regular diet and try to follow proper timing of food intake and cut down oily foods, and spicy food. Pranayama and yoga also advised to maintain healthy lifestyle. Even there will be mood swings in premenopausal stage. If there is a calcium deficiency, it should be compensated with calcium rich food like green leafy vegetables and milk. Avoid saturated fats and oily foods. Cholesterol levels should be normalized. Sedentary life should be avoided. Consume Loki Juice 30 ml along with honey in empty stomach will reduce water retention. Regular exercises and pranayama is indicated to maintain pleasant mind. Using medicines like Evanova, Ashokarishta and Dashamularishta are useful .
