Doctor's Ayurvedic Advice:-

The most common cause of knee pain among people of your age is OsteoArthritis of the Knee joint. I assume that there is no swelling in your knees. The pain responds very well within a month after starting with the medicines. The medicines and treatments like oil massages improve the circulation which will nourish the joint.

Medicines like Dhanvantaram Kasayam - 15ml with 6oml boiled and warm water can be taken before food twice daily, Yograj Guggulu, Divya Pidantak Tailam are effective.

Panchakarma treatments like oil massage, leaf fomentations, rice fomentations, pizhichal are very effective to strengthen and reduce the pain.

Include nuts, flax seeds, olive oil, avocados in your diet. Try to control your weight. Yogasanas like Vajrasana, Manamudrasana, Dhanurasana, Matsyendrasana, Salabhasana, Gomukhasana, Padmasana, Siddhasana helps to stregthen the knee joint and the surrounding muscles. It will increase the flexibility of the knee joint.

As the number of people being diagnosed with Diabetes is increasing, many of them prefer natural herbal medicines, exercise, yogasanas, pranayamam to control it. This becomes very effective in Type 2 diabetes. People in the prediabetic range of blood sugar level shall follow this and prevent or delay the onset of diabetes. It can be done by people with Type 1 also.

Yogasanas helps to improve the metabolism, stimulates the pancreas to secrete more insulin, increases the sensitivity of the insulin, reduce the weight. Those poses involving pressure in the abdomen helps to stimulate the pancreas.

Yogasanas like Paschimottasana, Trikonasana, Matsyasana, Dhanurasana, Pavanamuktasana, Shalabasana, Mayurasana, Halasana, Bhujangasna, Ardhamatsyendrasana, Surya namaskaram helps to control the sugar level if practised properly with a healthy eating.

Check your blood sugar regularly and follow proper lifestyle changes to have a better control of diabetes.

When treating diabetes exercise is seen to have great importance and so is the yoga postures. It is seen that several yoga postures are effective enough to stimulate the cells of pancreas which is responsible for producing insulin.

Type 2 diabetes is the one which can get the maximum effect oout of yoga practice.

Pranayama is the first technique which all diabetic patients should practice. Pranayama otherwise known as breathing exercise is seen to have miraclous effect on several clinical conditions including cancer. Although less evidence is available, it is seen that it has capabilty to bring pancreas back to its normal functioning level

A few other postures which are seen best for diabetic patients include Sarvangasana, padahasthasana, matsyasana and balasana. These posture shall be learned from a well experienced yoga master or a naturopathist.

Here it shall be noted that a combination of yoga, exercise and medicines are seen to easily heal diabetes in less time interval. In diabetes a controlled and steady lifestyle is the first and most important line of treatment.

I have been attending Yog classes regularly from 9th April 2009. I am 53 years old and suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. The upper level used to be 160-180 previously, which is now between 120-130. I used to take 1000 mg tablets to control diabetes and now I have reduced it to 500 mg. the diabetes is normal in spite of reducing medicine. I have full faith that I will not require this medicine also.

I have a tumour on my back from student life, which has dissolved completely. I have become more active and my confidence level has increased. Mind is cheerful and my temper has also reduced.

I was developed diabetes in September 2006. I took lots of allopathic and homeopathic medicines but nothing worked for me. Finally I was moved towards yogasana and pranayama. For approximately 2 months I have been practicing anulom-viloma, kapaalbhati, bhastrika, bhramri etc after coming from stool. I also practice Mandookasana and Kurmasana which are the most effective asana for diabetes. My sugar report is 113 on empty stomach and 120 after meals. I feel great because in early days it (my sugar level) used to be between 250 to 300. Doing pranayama has been very effective (for me) and now I wish to continue for whole of my life.

I had been suffering from diabetes for the past 2 years. Allopathic medicine did not help me. I started going to Yoga classes from 16 November 2008. For my meals, I started taking vegetables boiled with dalia. I am not eating anything else. My P.P. sugar came down from 277 to 217, and in 17 days, on 3rd December 2008, my P.P. sugar reached 132. Doctors had postponed a surgery for hydrocele, asking me to first control my sugar. On 4th December, my operation was performed. Swamiji Maharaj! Yoga has given me a new life. In the young age of 35 years, I was feeling helpless and dependent. I feel as if I have been infused with a new energy and been gifted with a new consciousness. My life has become filled with sweetness.
