Yoga for weight loss and obesity

As obesity and overweight is related to metabolic and hormonal imbalances, where endocrine system is involved.

Hence, along with the help of alternative therapies, one can achieve a positive result by practicing yoga.

However, proper supervision is needed and proper care is taken while doing yoga by obese patients.

As obesity is a metabolic disorder and can consider as disease and proper care should be taken for reducing weight.

One cannot be perform yoga rapidly or vigorously. This has to be done in stepwise and gradually.

The combination of yoga poses and pranayama will fetch better results.

EkpadaUttansana, Utthana padasana postures are done initially and shitali and shitkari pranayama to be practiced and rest can be taken well.

Later on you can add Salabhasana, Bhujangasana, and Pavanamuktasana can be done along with Dhanurasana, Ardha Matsyendrasana, and Surya Namaskara, and Bhujangasana can be done.

In order to balance the hormones, above said asanas or yoga poses are very helpful and practiced gradually and along with balanced nutrition, one can perform these yoga postures regularly for reducing excessive weight.

Sometimes, the above mentioned asanas or poses may not be possible in few obese patients, where modification is indicated.

One should not strain while doing these yoga postures.

With regards, Dr.Vijay.
